Inclusive Corporations

What it is
The Inclusive Corporations Program explores practical ways for employees, communities and other stakeholders to participate in the ownership and governance of publicly listed companies. It focuses on creating mechanisms that enable people and communities affected by corporations to collectively hold shares, receive a share of the wealth created, and have a stronger voice in corporate decision-making.

Initially, the program is exploring opportunities in sectors such as energy, mining, retail and manufacturing, with a particular interest in employees and communities connected to large corporations. The program is still in development and aims to identify practical, scalable models that can work within existing markets and regulatory settings.

Why it matters
Corporations generate enormous amounts of wealth and shape the future of communities, workers and regions. Yet ownership and the benefits that flow from it are often concentrated among a relatively small group of investors.

More inclusive forms of corporate ownership can help broaden access to capital income, build long-term wealth, strengthen local prosperity and create stronger relationships between corporations and the people and places that contribute to their success. They offer a pathway for communities and employees to move beyond being passive stakeholders and become participants in the wealth they help create.

What’s happening

The Inclusive Corporations Program is currently in development.

We are seeking expressions of interest from parties who are interested in exploring how communities and workers can have a greater voice in corporations, participate in ownership, and share in the wealth and profits they help create.
